I have a 2008 KTM 950 Super Enduro R and am wondering which is the best bike between the two for riding dirt roads. The 950 is about 50 lbs lighter and is easier to mount and dismount than the 1090.

The KTM 790 Adventure R’s torquey nature is felt early on, before starting to kick along at 4000rpm and then really punching hard at 6000rpm.
KTM 1290 Super Adventure R Brakes. Brakes remain unchanged from the previous model with Brembo radial callipers still grabbing twin 320mm discs. The cornering ABS is excellent, and you can de-activate the rear brake ABS, while in the off-road mode the ABS is designed to work on gravel and lose terrain.
