Commander S. Same, OP - IMO, if you can auto-equip an entire outfit off your horse, then you should be able to auto-equip a gun belt when selecting your sidearm. And, likewise, have the option for 'none' on your horse, just like how you don't need to have a shoulder/back longarm weapon equipped all the time.
