Could possibly even be battery life concerns if iOS 16 is too power hungry they might have thought it was better to leave those devices on iOS 15 to avoid another iPhone 4s iOS 9 fiasco crippling those devices and draining battery like a mofo. Have you updated to iOS 15.1? If not, do it. I'm on a iPhone 7 Plus and have (so far) zero issues. I waited upgrading until I had a new battery installed by Apple the other day. Old battery lasted over 5 years, but very flakey over its last ten days and apps would suddenly just terminate. At the end, camera would not even run.

Palera1n should work, though fakefs has been superseded in favor of rootless and might not work I have a pretty strict workout routine, so my screen time is pretty much always the same. With the last versions of 15 I usually got back home with 40-55%. Nearly all zero updates of the last 8 years were a nightmare for several people, no matter if iOS, iPadOS or macOS. I would always wait for the first update minimum. I myself never update before January, that means second or third update. Fact is, it's more likely to have no issues with 16.6.1 as with 17.0 And I suspect this would be far less impactful for the iPhone 8+ (I hear iOS 16 is a far bigger performance hit anyways).
