However, there's plenty of other Pokemon for type coverage, so just use the one you like most. As for which game to play, it doesn't matter really. It might be easier to start with Yellow since you'll only have to learn 150 Pokemon instead of around 250, but each game has their charm so I don't think playing Crystal first will ruin Yellow.
Given that the Let's Go games were basically loose remakes of Pokémon Red/Blue/Yellow, it stands to reason that any sequel(s) would follow the structure of Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal. If that means 16 Gyms and two regions to explore like in the originals, sign me the hell up.
It provides a good insight into what you're asking. Pokemon Crystal actually has the Kanto region in Pokemon Blue/Red/Yellow as well. It effectively combined the two games for a total of 16 badges/gyms instead of the standard 8. Generation 2 (Gold, Silver, Crystal) are a lot of peoples favourite generation.
